About the Company:
.
Domino’s is an American restaurant chain founded in 1960 by Tom Monaghan, James Monaghan as ‘DomiNick’s Pizza’. They purchased a small pizza restaurant named ‘DomiNick’s’ from Dominick DiVarti. By 1965, they had purchased two more stores. The name ‘Domino’s‘ was suggested by Jim Kennedy, an employee of Monaghan. Monaghan immediately loved the idea and officially renamed the business ‘Domino’s Pizza, Inc.’ in 1965 as they were barred from using the ‘DomiNick’s’ from the owner.
.
Rise of the Domino’s brand:

About Domino’s Logo:
.
The name Domino’s was suggested by Jim Kennedy, one of the employees of Monaghan. He immediately registered the name in 1965 as they were forbidden from using the name ‘DomiNick’s’ by its owner.
.
The first logo:
.
Domino’s was known as ‘DomiNick’s Pizza’ till 1965. In 1965, they officially renamed the company to ‘Domino’s’. The first logo, ‘a semi-realistic looking red domino‘ was also introduced the same year. It had three dots in it, representing the number of stores Monaghan owned. The company planned to add a dot for each new restaurant they opened.

Second Logo:
.
Domino’s introduced its second logo in 1969. The original plan to add a dot with each new store was shelved as they gained huge success and opened many stores in short duration. They used red, white and blue colours in their logo to be highly noticeable and to appeal to the largest number of people. The wordmark was placed on the right side of the icon.

Third Logo:
.
The third logo was introduced in 1975 and was used until 1996. The wordmark was flipped vertically along the icon and was written with white colour in blue background.

Fourth Logo:
.
The fourth logo was introduced in 1996. It was placed to look like a diamond. The red colour of the domino was darker and slight changes in wordmark fonts were done. It was used until 2012.

Current Logo:
.
The current logo was adopted by the Domino’s in 2012. They dropped the word ‘pizza‘ from their logo as they have become such a huge brand that people already know what they offer. Also, they offer more than just pizzas. The icon was introduced in red and blue colours.
