History of the Company:

The company ‘Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory’ was started by Adolf Dassler in 1924 in his mother’s house along with his elder brother Rudolf. They manufactured spiked running shoes. In 1949 both the brothers separated, later Adolf created ‘Adidas’ and Rudolf established ‘Puma‘. Hence the name Adidas came up in 1949.

The First Logo:

The company was established by the Dassler brothers in 1924 under the name ‘Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory’. They manufactured running spiked shoes for multiple athletic events.

Second Logo:

Both the brothers separated and established their own companies in 1949. Adolf created ‘Adidas’ and Rudolf established ‘Puma’ which is the current rival of Adidas. Adolf came up with the name ‘Adidas’ from his nickname ‘Adi’ and his surname ‘Dassler’.

Third Logo:

The very next year Adolf introduced a new logo. It was a wordmark in lowercase and the company used this logo until 1971.

Fourth Logo:

Adidas introduced a brand new logo design in 1971 which they bought from the Karhu Sports. It was three stripes in the form of a leaf which the company named ‘Trefoil’. The three stripes of the logo represent clothing, shoe design and branding. The logo is currently being used by the Adidas Originals.

Fifth Logo:

The Company introduced a new logo in 1997. It was designed by Peter Moore and consisted of three stripes in the shape of a mountain. The mountain represents the overcoming challenges and the lowercase wordmark represents the casual, informal nature of the brand. The logo is currently used by the Adidas Performance Line.

Sixth Logo:

The company introduced a new logo in 2005. It was a wordmark in lowercase along with the three stripes and shows the confidence and leadership of the brand.
