About the Company:
.
Twitter is a micro-blogging website used by millions of people around the world to write what they feel. Twitter is a social media platform which helps to connect people from one another irrespective of distance. When a person writes about a topic and makes it live, it is known as ‘tweet’. In twitter, one needs to subscribe to another person and is known as a ‘follower’. Twitter restricts you to write within 280 characters. When a person shares another person ‘tweet’ from their account for their followers, it is known as ‘retweet’.
Twitter was created in March and was launched in July 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams. The first prototype of Twitter was developed by Jack Dorsey and Florian Weber. Its headquarter is in San Fransisco, U.S.A. It soon gained popularity worldwide and in 2012, more than 100 million users posted around 340 million tweets a day. In 2013, it was on the list of ‘top ten most visited website’. Today, Twitter has more than 330 million active users worldwide.

Evolution of logo design of Twitter:
.
Twitter is currently using a bird logo, which is called ‘Larry the bird’ named after Larry Bird of the NBA’s Boston Celtics fame. The logo went under many up-gradation with time. It was originally a clip art of a bird which was used by Simon Oxley Later in 2009, the logo was redesigned by founder Biz Stone with help from designer Philip Pascuzzo. In 2012, Douglas Bowman created a simplified version of ‘Larry the Bird’, similar to a mountain bluebird.

1) Prototype Logo:
.
The initial logo of twitter was a prototype. It was not launched officially. It was used until 2006 and was designed by Noah Glass. According to Noah, the logo suggests “inspired youthfulness” and that “old is boring, and nothing is worse than boring”.

2) The first logo:
.
The first official logo was launched in 2006, it was a wordmark which was created by a graphic designer Linda Gavin in just one day. It was a simple design with a blue colour font in white background. It was used until 2010.

3) Second Logo:
.
Twitter launched its second logo in 2010, it was the first time they officially launched the bird logo which was called ‘Larry the bird’ named after Larry Bird of the NBA’s Boston Celtics. It was designed by Biz Stone with help the from designer Philip Pascuzzo. This logo was used until 2012.

4) Third Logo:
.
On June 5 2012, Twitter redesigned its logo. They deleted the wordmark and used the bird icon only. It was designed by Douglas Bowman. ‘Larry the bird’ was more simplified and it was now named ‘Twitter Bird’ based on mountain bluebird. The dark blue colour was used instead of light blue. The reason for this change was that Twitter had become so famous that they didn’t even need to use the name ‘Twitter’ anymore in their logo. People just by seeing the ‘Twitter Bird’ could recognize the company.
